Biography:
Wendy Paterson, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Elementary Education and Reading at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, New York. She has been a single parent mother for 14 years (her son is currently 16). Her 1997 dissertation became the subject of her book, Unbroken Homes: Stories from Single Parent Mothers, published by Haworth Press Inc in 2001. She is a popular speaker and workshop leader for local, state, national and international groups and has given several talks on the

 

topic of single parents and is a prominent consultant for the college on a number of topics including: parents as partners in education, literacy development, educational technology, pre-service education, women in leadership, and gender styles in communication. She was recently named as a teacher-scholar fellow for the Faculty of Applied Science and Education, and was awarded the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 1996.
