Editorial Comment This section of the website reports news affecting domestic partners. The term domestic partners has generally been defined by law as two adults who live together, who are financially and emotionally interdependent, and who consider themselves to be a family. Sometimes the news in this section is dominated by stories focusing on the extension of domestic partner benefits and protections to same-sex couples. When that happens, it is because those are the stories which have appeared recently in newspapers. The American Association for Single People
supports the creation of registries and the extension of benefits and protections to any
two unmarried adults who share a common household as a family unit. AASP supports
laws and benefits programs which do not exclude people on the basis of sex or sexual
orientation. Stories posted on May 8, 2004
