Florida law imposes full disclosure for adoption ads in newspaper
A story published today by the Examiner reports that the state of Florida has a new law that requires women-- including rape victims and minors -- who wish to put their children up for adoption to run ads in newspapers for four weeks detailing their sexual history around the time of conception. The legislation is meant to allow men who might have unknowingly fathered children an opportunity to step forward and claim their offspring. Its consequences will be fewer adoptions, because women who don't want the humiliation of publicly announcing that they don't know who fathered the children will opt for abortions instead.
