New York city mayor signs civil union bill
A story released today by the Associated Press reports that New York city mayor Michael Bloomberg signed a bill Tuesday extending the city's domestic partnership benefits to same sex couples visiting New York who are part of legally recognized relationships. The law covers same-sex couples from cities and states that have domestic partnership laws or that recognize same-sex ''unions,'' and nations that recognize same-sex marriages. To receive the city's domestic partnership benefits which includes hospital visitation rights and health benefits visitors must show a certificate indicating they have legally registered their relationship back home.
