The tables on this page were taken from a special report issued by the Census Bureau in March 2003.  These tables compare living conditions among various types of married and unmarried households in the United States in 1998.

Lives alone refers to solo singles.

Lives with others refers to roommates or unmarried partners.

Unmarried, children refers to single parents.

Unmarried, no children refers to unmarried blood relatives.
