| The Los Angeles Times Poll interviewed
8,218 voters who cast ballots in the general election as they entered 140 polling places
across the nation, including 3,474 Californians as they exited polling places across the
state. Precincts were chosen based on the pattern of turnout in past general
elections. The survey was a self-administered, confidential questionnaire in English and
Spanish. The margin of sampling error for all voters, including California voters,
is plus or minus 3 percentage points. For some sub-groups, the error margin may be
somwhat higher. As reported in the Los Angeles Times on
November 9, 2000.
